Privacy policy

This policy explains what data Gugames ("we") collects when you use the website, the Gugames Recorder extension and the games on the site, why, who we share it with and what you can do about it.

What we collect

• Account: email, display name, username, a hash of your password (never the password itself), language, and your Google account id and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
• What you publish: videos, Plays, titles, descriptions and messages to friends. Recordings can include your microphone if you turn it on.
• Usage: pages and games opened, play time, views and likes, device and browser type, and your IP address (used for security and to estimate your country).
• Payments: handled by the payment provider. We see the plan and payment status, never your full card number.
• Messages to us: what you send through the contact form.

The Gugames Recorder extension

The extension records only the Gugames tab where you start a recording, and only while the recording runs. The finished video goes only to Gugames, where it stays a private draft until you publish it. The extension does not read other sites or your browsing history and contains no analytics or ads.

Why we use it

To run the site and your account, show your videos, keep the site safe (spam and abuse detection, automated checks of uploaded videos), pay game developers and creators, answer your messages, and show ads that keep the games free.

Cookies and similar technologies

• Necessary: gg_sid keeps you signed in; gg_oauth protects Google sign-in for 10 minutes. Settings such as language are stored in your browser. These are always on.
• Advertising: our advertising partners, including Google, set cookies or use similar identifiers to show and measure ads. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first; without consent, only non-personalised ads are shown.

Advertising by Google

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
• How Google uses data when you use our site: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
• Premium members see no ads.

Who we share data with

Only with service providers that run the site for us, under contract: Amazon Web Services (hosting, in the EU), Google (advertising, sign-in with Google, and automated checks of uploaded videos and games), and the payment provider. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.

How long we keep it

Account data stays while your account exists. Deleted videos leave the site at once and our backups within 30 days. Server logs are kept for up to 90 days, contact messages for up to 2 years, and payment records as long as tax law requires.

Your rights

You can see, correct, download and delete your data, and object to or withdraw consent for its use. Delete videos from your profile; for everything else, including deleting your account, write to us through the contact page. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Gugames is not meant for children under 13, and they may not create an account. If we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date above, and for important changes we post a notice on the site.
